Humanflows is a project whose main focus
is on visually and interactively mapping global migrations in a bid to
understand its causes. In its current state, it serves as a framework with
which to develop further visualisations.![]() Initiated by Miguel Cabanzo as part of the visualizar workshop in Madrid, the project was graced by contributions from Monica Sanchez (Spain), Nathan Yau (United States), and Iman Moradi (United Kindom). Aim of the project is to develop a tool to visualize and interconnect historical, economical and statistical data. In a near future, humanflows will try to show the causes and consequences of migration flows and -maybe more important-, unveil the relations between them. The first prototype of the system was developed using processing + mysql, and is currently part on an exhibition helded at the Medialab-Prado, Madrid. Online version here. Interview on WMMNA. 20 years of global migrations. Flows and unemployment rate (less = brighter). Screencasts by Nathan Yau. |
